Guided by experienced tribesmen, you’ll witness their remarkable hunting techniques, honed over generations, as they track and pursue elusive game through the rugged terrain. Learn about their intimate connection with the environment and the intricate skills required to survive in this unforgiving landscape.
We’ll leave early in the morning, at 4 a.m., for the rural area of Lake Eyasi. We’ll get to meet one of the world’s last tribes that still lives the way our great great great grandfathers did.
The Hadzabe has kept the traditional ‘hunter & gatherer’ manner of existence and is known for their ‘click language’. They may appear intimidating, dressed in animal pelts and holding a bow and arrow, yet they are a very friendly people. Spend time with the Hadzabe and become immersed in their culture, learning about their customs, rituals, and daily routines. Participate in their joyful singing and explore their traditional dwellings.
We will get the opportunity to participate in some of their everyday duties and hunt with them. Please keep in mind that this is their way of life, and the hunting is real, therefore it may not be suitable for everyone.
You can further enrich your cultural experience by visiting the Datoga tribe. The Datoga are a pastoralist community residing in the same region and offer a unique insight into their traditional way of life. The Datoga, skilled in blacksmithing, produce high-quality metal arrow points using their craftsmanship. These arrow points are highly sought after by the Hadzabe. In this intriguing trade, the Datoga trade their metal arrow points to the Hadzabe in return for meat.
