Canoe Safari Description

On this 2-2.5-hour tour, you’ll explore a part of the Momella Lakes in Arusha National Park by canoe.

These lakes were formed when Mount Meru erupted about 250,000 years ago, resulting in the creation of seven alkaline lakes. These lakes provide a perfect habitat for various aquatic birds, including greater and lesser pink flamingos, pelicans, African fish eagles, and many more. In fact, the park is home to up to 600 different bird species.

As you paddle along the shorelines, you’ll have the chance to spot these birds up close. Keep an eye out for other wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, and various animals grazing at the water’s edge. You might even catch a glimpse of the elusive Colobus monkey swinging from the trees. The canoe safari in Arusha National Park is a relaxing yet exciting activity.

On a clear day, you’ll enjoy a stunning view of Mt. Meru, and if you’re fortunate, even Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Fun Fact: Arusha National Park hosts the world’s largest giraffe population.
