Explore Tarangire National Park on foot with a guided walking safari! Known for its large herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees, Tarangire offers a chance to experience the park a different way. Walking with a ranger and guide, you’ll learn to spot animal tracks and signs while observing wildlife in their natural environment.
Your walking safari begins in one of the quieter, more remote corners of Tarangire National Park. Accompanied by an armed ranger and experienced guide, you’ll leave the vehicle behind and follow game trails through the savanna, stepping into the wilderness on foot.
Your guide will draw your attention to the smaller details: the rough imprint of elephant footprints in the dust, the sharp scent of crushed wild sage beneath your boots, or the distant call of a hornbill echoing through the trees. You’ll learn how to read the landscape by recognizing signs such as droppings, claw marks, or broken branches, each telling a quiet story about the animals that passed through.
Wildlife encounters can be thrillingly close: elephants moving silently through the grass, zebras grazing just meters away, or giraffes stretching for acacia leaves. Other animals often spotted on foot include waterbuck, impala and ostriches.
Walking safaris in Tarangire are conducted with care for the environment, ensuring minimal disturbance to the wildlife.
*Kindly be informed that the Tarangire Walking Safari is exclusively offered as part of a complete itinerary and cannot be reserved independently, as the activity occurs in Tarangire National Park, which requires a vehicle w. guide, parkfees & other taxes.
The minimum age for this activity is 12 years old.
