The tour begins with a boat trip into the waters surrounding Mafia Island, where humpback whales are known to pass during their migration between the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean.
These whales can travel up to 25,000 km each year, and during the migration season, the chances to see them are high. With the help of your guide, you’ll watch for the signs of whale activity: a tail breaking the surface, a sudden splash or the dramatic sight of a whale breaching completely out of the water before crashing back with an enormous splash.
