Amazing trip with ArushaTrips! What an amazing trip through Tanzania this was! From start to finish, everything was incredibly well organized by ArushaTrips. The accommodations during the safari were top-notch. The beautiful tents at Tukaone Tented Camp and Tarangire Simba Lodge, in particular, were a wonderful experience. From these accommodations, you truly experience nature up close. During our eight-day safari, we saw an incredible number of animals. We were able to admire giraffes, elephants, lions, and cheetahs, among others. This was largely thanks to our guide/driver, Joseph. He had incredibly good eyesight and spotted animals that we hadn't noticed at all ourselves. Moreover, he was very friendly, helpful, and knew a lot to tell us about the animals and the surroundings. The people in Tanzania also made a great impression on us. They were friendly and hospitable, and we felt welcome everywhere. After eight intensive and impressive days of safari, we went to Zanzibar to relax and unwind. To be honest, we really needed it. During a safari, you take in so many impressions and see so many special things that you really need some time afterwards to let it all sink in. On Zanzibar, we started with two nights in Stone Town. A beautiful, old, and lively city with much to see and do. We also did a Spice Tour here. Personally, I found that tour a bit less impressive than the safari, but it was certainly fun to learn a little more about the spices and the local culture. After that, we went to Jambiani for five days, to the Fun Beach Hotel. This was truly the perfect end to our holiday. We had asked for a small-scale hotel, and that is exactly what we got. We had our own cottage with a veranda, and from our accommodation, it was about a ten-meter walk to the pool across beautiful, snow-white sand. Upon returning, there was even water ready to rinse your feet so you wouldn't track any sand inside. Wonderful! What we also really appreciated was the communication with ArushaTrips. If anything didn't go quite right during the trip, it was immediately resolved by our guide/driver. And if we had any questions, we could contact ArushaTrips via WhatsApp. They always responded quickly and looked for a good solution. The trip was certainly not cheap, but we felt that the quality and organization were absolutely worth it. However, it is good to take into account the tipping customary in Tanzania beforehand. For a private trip, a guide/driver is often valued at approximately $20 to $40 per day per vehicle. Tipping is also customary for the staff at lodges and tent camps, such as cooks and housekeeping. We appreciated knowing this in advance so that we could take it into account during our trip. In short: for us, this was a fantastic holiday and we look back on it with immense pleasure. The combination of a great safari, beautiful accommodations, friendly people, and a relaxed conclusion on Zanzibar made it complete for us. We would definitely recommend ArushaTrips to anyone looking for a beautiful and well-organized trip to Tanzania. 🇹🇿🦒🐘🦁🌴 Thank you ArushaTrips for this unforgettable experience! We had an amazing and unforgettable safari in Tanzania, followed by a beautiful Zanzibar experience, both organized by Arusha Trips. Our guide Silvester was outstanding — warm, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife, birds, and parks. On day one he asked what we each wanted to see, and made sure we did. Our three teenagers loved joking around with him, and he was also a great, careful driver. We saw so many amazing things, but Silvester made it truly unforgettable — we'd love to have him again next time! The Arusha Trips team tailored our itinerary perfectly, making everything run smoothly. And Zanzibar was the perfect way to end the trip: a peaceful escape to soak it all in.

If I could I would give more than 5 stars! First of all a big thank you to Arusha trips and especially our amazing guide Nelson! He really outdid himself. From the beginning he was the perfect guide telling us little facts here and there and big stories about all the wildlife. You really see from the start that he’s got over ten years of experience. In addition to that he gave everything to show us all the animals. I think we’ve seen everything that could‘ve been possible with the absolute highlight of seeing all the big 5. Also with the migration he did everything so we could experience a glimpse of what’s going on during that amazing wildlife gathering. Also we felt comfortable and safe the whole time. So thank you so much Nelson you really made our trip unforgettable! (We’re already talking about climbing the mountain together😉) And for the rest from the start the booking process was easy. I’m always a fan of personal contact beforehand so the phone call about our plans and wishes was exactly where I was convinced I found the right company for us. They really tailored the trip to our wishes. We chose to do a 7 day safari so we’re not in a rush. We were in contact the whole time and we couldn’t have chosen a better company for our once in a lifetime safari. All the accommodations were perfect and the food was amazing. So not much more to say but incredibly thankful and we hope we can come back very soon.

A Tanzania Safari: What to expect?

If you want to have the safari of a lifetime, Tanzania is the ideal country! With its varied landscapes, unique cultures, snow-capped mountains, volcanic lakes and vast, renowned game reserves… A Tanzania safari is a must for everyone who wants to have the ultimate safari experience. Thanks to our years of experience and specialization in Tanzania, we can create the most extraordinary and unique safari itineraries. Discover the most beautiful and remote places during our one of our 100% tailor-made safaris. From adventurous camping to super deluxe accommodations, anything is possible!

What makes a Tanzania safari so unique?

Can you imagine it? A gigantic elephant just a few meters away? The special thing about a safari in Tanzania is that you actually enter the territory of the wild animals! This means that you literally come face to face with the wild animals! But it’s not only during the day that you’re in the middle of nature, most of our accommodations are also located in National Parks.

This will give you a full experience of the wild nature of Tanzania and what really happens at night 😉 Maybe a giraffe will walk past your lodge? Or maybe you’ll hear the sound of an elephant at night? A Tanzania safari lets you experience that real piece of pure nature and adventure like no other safari!

Take a look at our small-scale unique lodges and tented camps that we have selected for our safaris. We have accommodations in different styles and price ranges, so you can always find the one that suits you best.

Perhaps you have heard about ‘the 7 natural wonders of Africa’. These 7 places are considered to be the most special and unique places in the whole of Africa. It is not for nothing that Tanzania is frequently visited by travelers who have put the 7 natural wonders on their bucket list. Tanzania already contains 3 of the 7 places: Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater and the Great Migration in Serengeti National Park

Not only can you see and discover an incredible number of different places, the unique thing about a trip to Tanzania is that these places are also super easy to reach. Within a day’s drive, you can discover a huge variety of national parks. This means that for the number of days you spend on safari in Tanzania, you can see an enormous amount compared to safaris to other destinations in the world!

Not to mention… Tanzania is home to more than 100 different tribes! Think of the hunters and gatherers as we know them from our history books. You can still find these people in Tanzania! This is the Hadzabe tribe, a tribe that still lives according to the Stone Age (a fun fact is that finds of the very first humans have been found in Tanzania). All in all, there is a lot to discover about the rich and diverse culture of Tanzania. Each tribe has its own unique culture, age-old traditions and beliefs.

Which animals can you encounter during one of our safaris?

During our safaris, you will be amazed! There are countless wild animals that you can spot!  You will first of all see large numbers of antelopes, but also zebras, wildebeests and gazelles. Cheetahs, hippos, monkeys and giraffes will also pass by. Don’t forget to look up! Not only are there many special animals on land, there are also more than 1000 different species of birds in the sky.

But it doesn’t stop there… Is the famous Big Five on your bucket list? Then Tanzania is the place to be. Spot the 5 most dangerous animals to hunt during your safari. Elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, leopards and lions. With a bit of luck you will spot them all! The rhino is almost nowhere to be found due to the drastic extinction of this impressive species. Fortunately, the black rhinoceros can still be found in the wild in Tanzania.

How close do the animals come during the safari?

How close the wild animals come to you during the safari varies a lot. One moment you drive through an area where you can see lions in the distance, but the next moment they suddenly walk right past your car! The great thing about a safari in the wild is that you can never predict exactly what you will encounter or what will happen. That makes it very exciting! It could be that a cheetah suddenly appears in front of the car, preventing you from driving on. Or a monkey might jump on the car! The important thing to remember is that you are always safe. As long as you sit quietly and don’t do anything unexpected that scares the animals, nothing will happen. If you respect the wildlife, then it will respect you as well.

How many days on safari to Tanzania?

How long you want to go on safari is and remains a personal choice! That is why you can always let us compose your personal safari.

To really explore Tanzania we recommend a minimum of 7 days for your safari. It is also wise to allow for 1 or 2 extra days to relax and recover from the trip. Besides the safari, you can also choose to spend a few extra days relaxing. You can do this for example on the beautiful tropical island of Zanzibar. Not only does this island offer excellent sunbathing, it also offers a lot to do! Swim with dolphins, go fishing or explore the underwater world on a diving excursion.

To get the most out of your Tanzania adventure, we recommend a safari lasting between 7 and 15 days. The Tanzania safaris that we have put together vary from 5 to 15 days. The 15-day safaris, for example, also include a trip to Zanzibar and other relaxing activities.

Considering how much there is to experience in Tanzania, you will never be finished discovering it. If you have the money and time, we recommend staying longer. You can easily spend several months in Tanzania and still see new things every day!

Is a safari in Tanzania safe?

During a safari in Tanzania you will be in the middle of wild nature. Therefore, you will be seen as an intruder of the wildlife’s territory. But as long as you follow the instructions of our specialized and local guides, you will always be perfectly safe! Our guides are all qualified and know the safari areas from childhood. They have studied specifically for this purpose and have the necessary wildlife knowledge to show you the unique places of Tanzania safely. In addition, in certain national parks, when you leave your car and go on a walking safari, an armed ranger will accompany you. All for the safety of you and the animals!

What should you take with you on a Tanzania safari?

A list of the MUST HAVES that you should take with you for a safari to Tanzania:

  • Your passport
  • Vaccination booklet
  • ATM card (don’t forget to change it to ‘world’!)
  • Credit card
  • Insurance card
  • Telephone
  • Waist bag
  • Deet
  • Airy, comfortable clothing
  • 1 or 2 long, airy trousers. At some altitudes it can be quite cool in the evening!
  • Jumper and vest
  • Flip flops and sandals
  • Walking shoes or comfortable sneakers
  • Swimwear
  • Cap or hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Binoculars
  • Toiletries
  • And… Not to forget: a photo and/or film camera with an extra battery and memory card. We want to capture our memories of course!
